27 Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets say thank you

On a wet and cold weekend this fall, many of you saw, met and spoke with the young uniformed members of 27 Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Businesses across London, ON, a key role in the fund raising by allowing Cadets to stand outside their premises to promote the Air Cadet program. The thoughtful and generous donations of Londoners continue to help Cadets participate in a positive, active and valuable youth movement.

Canada plans to mark 100th anniversary of First World War

Canada will be part of an international effort planning the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the First World War. The anniversary — which begins in 2014 — will be marked with events in several of the countries most affected by the war. Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino joined counterparts from 22 other countries for an international ministerial seminar about the commemorations.

Hold on, young man

While I was doing my ground job at Cold Lake, Alberta, I had a wonderful boss for a while. Unfortunately, he was about to retire after many years of service. Somehow, he had been able to arrange one last swing through the Canadian bases in Europe, just a few days before he was finally released from the service. I stepped into the breach and offered to fly him to Ottawa in a T-33 two-seat jet trainer. This was where our adventure began.

Canadian Armed Forces provides airlift support to the United Nations

At the request of the United Nations (UN), Canada provided military airlift to support the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), whose members are presently operating in Syria. The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) contributed a Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CC-177 Globemaster III aircraft from 8 Wing Trenton, ON.

Canadian chopper makes emergency landing

CAE completes upgrade to Chinook helicopter simulator

CAE announced it has completed a major upgrade to one of the Chinook dynamic mission simulators located at CAE's Medium Support Helicopter Aircrew Training Facility (MSHATF) and the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) is now training its Chinook aircrews to both the CH-47D and CH-47F standards.

The bi-annual Junior Ranks Reunion is held for those who were stationed at RCAF Station St. Hubert - including but not limited to those who worked with the 401 & 438 Reserve Sqn’s, 104 KU, 426 Sqn, ADCHQ, and all other units. Today St. Hubert has so much less activity that we hold our reunion at RCAF Base Trenton. Our 9th bi-annual reunion will be held in the WOs’ & SGTs’ Mess at 8 Wing Trenton, Ontario between June 20th – 22nd, 2014.
