RV Forecast Predicts Gains for 2010

A University of Michigan researcher is forecasting a 24 percent increase in shipments by the RV industry next year. The study by Dr. Richard Curtin, director of consumer surveys at the University of Michigan, predicts shipments of 169,500 units in 2010, compared to 136,500 estimated for 2009. Curtin says the appeal of the RV lifestyle and its economic value should lead to the improved market conditions. More

The economy is driving many customers toward used RVs, said Wade Stufft, vice president of operations for General RV Center, an RVDA member in Wixom, MI. “The used market is the strongest segment,” Stufft said. “We can’t keep them in stock. And service is booming.” Stufft believes buyers have a mindset nowadays that used RVs are all they can afford.

National Park Service Will Waive Fees for Three Weekends This Summer

The National Park Service is looking to stimulate summer vacations at national parks. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced recently that entrance fees at 147 national parks and monuments - including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite - will be waived on three weekends this summer. The weekends are June 20-21, July 18-19 and August 15-16. More
