RVDA celebrates 40th anniversary of serving the nation's RV dealers

RVDA celebrated its 40th anniversary of serving RV dealers in 2010. To mark this important milestone, the association developed a video and published special sections in RV Executive Today magazine featuring photos of the
events and people that shaped RVDA’s first four decades. The association was incorporated as a not-for-profit association in July, 1970. It held its first Congress and Symposium during the 1970 Louisville Show, attracting 300 dealer representatives.

From Dec. 8, 2010: American families are ready to hitch up their trailers and tow the RV industry out of its worst stretch in nearly two decades. RV
makers such as Winnebago are starting to turn profits and have begun to hire. And dealers are ordering more RVs for their showrooms. This year, shipments of RVs ranging from entry-level pop-ups to spacious motorhomes are expected to hit their highest level since 2007, when the economic downturn began. The upswing is a sign that somewhat looser credit, stable fuel prices, and improved consumer confidence are inspiring Americans to buy more RVs.

From Dec. 8, 2010: To increase the value of Go RVing advertising leads to dealers and help users generate more sales, Go RVing has developed a new leads
prioritization system. The Leads-Plus Program, launching in 2011, will deliver more highly qualified leads categorized by RV purchase likelihood, helping dealers, campgrounds, and manufacturers follow up more efficiently and effectively.

New law extends SBA loan programs, small business tax provisions

From Sept. 28, 2010: President Barack Obama signed into law the Small Business Jobs Act, which increases the limits on SBA guaranteed 7(a) loans from $2 million to as much as $5 million.
The act will jump-start the SBA's year-old dealer floor plan financing program (DFP), which has struggled to attract participation from lenders and was set to expire at the end of this month. RVDA and its allies successfully petitioned for a three-year extension of the program and for the higher loan limits.
