Cardiologists commonly fail to recognize that an outpatient with stable CAD has had recent chest pain, so they do not escalate angina treatment, a study of more than 1000 outpatients from the Angina Prevalence and Provider Evaluation of Angina Relief trial suggests.
In a single office visit, the patients completed the Seattle Angina Questionnaire indicating how often they had recent chest pain, and at the end of the office visit, the physicians, who were blinded to patients' SAQ scores, rated the patients' angina frequency.
