Sequestration: Mandatory payment reductions in the Medicare fee-for-service program

This list-serv message is directed at the Medicare FFS program. In general, Medicare FFS claims with dates of service or dates of discharge on or after April 1 will incur a 2 percent reduction in Medicare payment. Claims for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies, including claims under the DME Competitive Bidding Program, will be reduced by 2 percent based upon whether the date of service or the start date for rental equipment or multi-day supplies, is on or after April 1.

Students: Volunteer at the SCAPTA Annual Conference and save

PT/PTA students who choose to volunteer for the conference will be charged a registration rate of $25.00 to attend the conference. This rate includes attendance at the opening reception, student course, business meeting and lunch, job fair, exhibit hall including poster presentations. Startup uses Kinect to bring physical therapy home

Home Team Therapy, which launched in private beta, is using online video and video games to help physical therapists guide patients through their exercises at home. The platform also allows patients to track progress and communicate with therapists between appointments. Tim Fu, one of the company's founders, says he wants therapists and doctors to be able to use Home Team's tools for free.
