SHCA 2008 Election Results Are In
My Colleagues,
I'm very pleased to share with you the results of the recent Board of Directors election:
Carol Waldemayer, Patient Advocate, Hardin Memorial Center, a long-time and very involved and committed SHCA volunteer, will be assuming the role of President-Elect. Congratulations Carol!
The Society's efforts on behalf of the membership will continue to flourish under your leadership.
The election results for new Board members allow me to also congratulate Steve Cahoon, Kate Clarke-Pascente, Kevin Kasnick, and Sandra Sands, who are adopting the positions of those Board members whose terms have expired. (Many thanks to those outgoing Board members - Jodi Fawcett and Irene Zbcziak, for their hard work on our behalf, and I'm going off the Board, too.) All newly elected Board members will assume their new positions in April at the 2009 Annual Conference.
With such strong leadership in place to guide future Society's activities and welfare, please join me in being assured of SHCA's ongoing success.
Regards,

Ellen Tolbert

Colorado Medicare Patients in the Cold from the Denver Post The loss of the clinics in Colorado Springs and Boulder — both of which shut their doors within the past few weeks — punctuates what doctors call a major flaw in the health care system: Physicians who treat the underinsured have little incentive to keep doing so. Doctors say government reimbursement barely covers the cost of treating elderly Medicare patients, who typically have more than one health problem, take multiple medications and require more office time.
