'Internet of Things' presents enormous untapped potential for Canadian businesses

The "Internet of Things" (IoT) presents a massive opportunity that Canadian businesses have yet to capitalize upon, according to a TELUS-commissioned IDC survey. The survey, which examined the current state of IoT deployments in Canada, found that only 6 per cent of Canadian businesses have implemented an IoT solution, and that another 7 per cent are preparing to deploy in 2014.

SoftBank picks Google's Arora to head Internet business unit

SoftBank, the Japanese wireless carrier led by billionaire Masayoshi Son, hired Google's Nikesh Arora to help steer its global expansion. Arora will join as vice chairman in October after nearly a decade at Google, including time as the search company's chief business officer and head of European operations, Tokyo-based SoftBank said in a statement.

Google Maps for Android update adds elevation data for cyclists
