Post-conference Organic Valley Farm discovery tour added
Wednesday, July 29 | 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

A "hands-on" tour of Windy Valley Farms, Somerset, Pennsylvania, hosted by Organic Valley farmer-owner, Richard Stahl and family. Greater understanding of organic dairy farming practices including: rotational grazing, soil health, organic cropping, quality production standards, cow health and nutrition and the cooperative business model that sustains our farmers. Experiences that will show how Organic Valley is different from other organic brands. Wear comfortable, seasonal, layered, outdoor clothing, a hat, gloves and sturdy shoes for the farm tour. We will provide a rain poncho and shoe covers for the tour, as needed. You might need camera, sunglasses, sunscreen.

Gala dinner riverboat cruise proposed
SNEB
Sunday, July 27 | 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Conference chair Suzanne Piscopo has planned a Pittsburgh riverboat dinner cruise for Monday, July 27. In order to book this cruise we need a minimum of 50 attendees committed to attend. The estimated cost is $75 to $100 per person which includes dinner and cruise.

Today we have 35 members who have registered to attend or emailed to express an interest. If you have not previously mentioned your interest in attending the cruise and would like to join the group, please email Sarah Gould at sgould@sneb.org before June 1.

New this year — online business meetings!
SNEB
Five SNEB divisions are in the process of scheduling online meetings to conduct their yearly business meeting. The hope is that more members can participate and volunteer if the meetings are held virtually. During the annual conference they are planning a get-together where the time won't need to be spent on business. You do not need to be a member of the division to attend. Register to attend these free online meetings.

Jamie Stang, PhD, MPH, RDN, and her colleagues at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health have created a center for childhood obesity prevention policy with the help of several of our grad student MCH nutrition trainees. They have four free continuing education modules available:

Journal Club fall 2015 — Survey Design and Validation
SNEB
The Spring Semester on Statistical Methodology has concluded, and all 11 sessions are online. Based on member interest and the success of this spring's series, the fall series will focus on Survey Design and Validation in Nutrition Education and Behavior Research.

The webinars will feature JNEB authors sharing their experiences with designing surveys in various formats and validating survey instruments for a variety of audiences. These one-hour webinars, conducted at noon EDT on Mondays, will provide valuable learning opportunities for anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of creating and validating surveys. Participants also earn CPE by attending.

We have all seen those unappetizing photos of food served at school that quickly go viral. A lonesome whole wheat bun atop a sad fish fillet; a mysterious-looking meat mixture served next to an apple. It's natural to ask, "Is this what they serve for lunch!?"
