How to control migration of slip agents in polyethylene films
SPE Plastics Research Online    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Plastic packaging systems are ubiquitous in manufacturing. They are an integral component of applications from food to industrial shipping, but their usefulness and efficiency depend critically on fulfilling a number of technical requirements. For example, the plastic films on high-speed packaging lines must show adequate machinability — i.e., avoid sticking to metals and other parts of the handling lines—a characteristic that is determined mainly by the level of friction between the film and equipment. Positive outlook for plastics to fuel technology in US
Waste Management World    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The American Chemistry Council has published a study conducted by environmental consultancy, 4R Sustainability Inc., on increasing opportunities for plastics to fuel "conversion technologies" in the U.S. In 2009, the United States recycled more than 4 billion pounds of plastics. The report demonstrates the ability to recycle and recover plastics through technologies including those that convert plastics into oil and other fuels. Many of these technologies are already being implemented on a commercial scale in Europe and Asia. More
