Biomimetic Materials: New Ways to Copy Nature
By Adolfo Benedito
In science, we have a predicament of looking for solutions to problems in the most unforeseen ways, thinking that maybe the most complex solution is always the best. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nature, after millions of years of evolution, has always given rise to the most satisfactory solutions. It is the classic methodology of trial and error, known as natural selection. It exists, undoubtedly, as a modern trend to look towards the solutions that nature proposes to us and for us to try to reproduce them.

Novel Approach For Achieving Tight Injection-Molding Tolerances
SPE Plastics Research Online
It can be challenging to achieve tightly constrained tolerances on the dimensions of injection-molded parts. Manufacturers are often required to operate cost-effectively and quickly. As such, it is not always possible for the injected materials to reach a fully equilibrated state during molding. In addition, there can be a delay in receiving metrological information, which is used to adjust molding parameters.

China Trade Kills US Manufacturing Jobs, But Not the High Paid Ones
    Forbes
It’s a standard part of the criticism of free trade talks, of trade itself in fact, that trading with low income places like China kills off those nice, high paying, manufacturing jobs in the U.S. This is, in part, true. But it’s also, in part, not true. And only by unraveling which is the true part and which isn’t can we work out whether it’s still a good idea to be doing either these trade deals or this trade.
