A vane extruder for polymer processing
SPE
A novel, non-screw plasticizing processor known as the vane extruder could generate higher stress and dynamical elongational flow in polymers, using groups of vane plasticizing units. Polymer processing currently depends on screw processors to properly mix, stress, and plasticize polymers. The vane extruder would offer an alternative that generates higher stress and dynamical elongational flow.

Shale revolution in doubt — So what?
    By Stefanie Heerwig
No single day seems to go by without praises of the shale revolution. And no assessment of the oil market seems to work anymore without including the U.S. as a global supplier. If it continues like that, the International Energy Agency forecasts the U.S. will be a net exporter by 2030 and overtake Saudi Arabia by 2020. Unusual then to hear a bashing critique by one of the leading experts in the field, Andy Hall.

    Polymer-coated catalyst protects 'artificial leaf'
    PhysOrg
Due to the fluctuating availability of solar energy, storage solutions are urgently needed. One option is to use the electrical energy generated inside solar cells to split water by means of electrolysis, in the process yielding hydrogen that can be used for a storable fuel. Researchers at the HZB Institute for Solar Fuels have modified so called superstrate solar cells with their highly efficient architecture in order to obtain hydrogen from water with the help of suitable catalysts.

With EASchangesystems magnetic clamping system this is done every day on hundreds of injection moulding machines around the world. The big advantage of quick magnetic clamping systems is that there is no need anymore for standardization of the mold back plate. Round, square, any shape of molds are quickly and safely clamped on the machine. Electric power is only required when magnetizing and demagnetizing the system and this means no mold drop if there is a power failure.
