    A plastics recycling target of 62 percent is achievable by 2020. Plastics Recyclers Europe released a study showing that a higher recycling rate for plastics will create benefits for the European Union environment, economy and resource efficiency.

    Engineering plastics market to reach $90 billion
    European Plastics News
    The global market for engineering plastics will be worth $90 billion in 2020, thanks to a growing demand for lighter and more efficient materials, according to a new report. The Ceresana report says that the two biggest application types are electrical & electronics and consumer goods. Together, they make up 25 percent of global demand.

    Built in Italy: The Lamborghini Avendator

    Lamborghini's use of carbon fiber composites in its cars has been growing. The company reports that, in 2009, it it used around 100 tons of carbon fiber materials, a figure that will triple to more than 300 tons this year.

    Bioresorbable plastics star in new tissue engineering technology

    The combination of bioresorbable plastics and 3-D printing are becoming critical players in the fast-emerging field of tissue engineering. In a recent development, Tissue Regeneration Systems received 510K approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to use its Cranial Bone Void Filler product in the repair of neurosurgical burr holes.
