Emerging green building material technologies to watch
By Don Rosato
"Green building" is being transformed from a buzzword to a sophisticated approach using technology that redefines how we make and live in buildings that both reduce building energy consumption and provide for building energy production. This innovative technology helps to create a new market and value network, according to recent Plastics Institute of America market trend analysis. They "disrupt" an existing market by displacing earlier technology. This is particularly true in the evolution of green building material solutions.

Tough polyamide 6/core-shell blends by reactive extrusion
SPE Plastics Research Online
Polyamide 6 is an important thermoplastic with a wide range of engineering applications. Monomer casting via anionic polymerization and hydrolytic polymerization are the two main methods widely used to prepare PA6. However, they only allow PA6 to be prepared discontinuously (e.g., in a stirred tank in the case of hydrolytic polymerization, or inside a mold in the case of monomer casting).
