Member awards presented at annual meeting
SPPA
At the recent SPPA Membership Luncheon, the annual supplier awards were handed out. Distributor members of the association choose the winners each year and past president Tim Hennessy made the presentations. Below are the comments he made about each winner.

SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR — Crown Products
Distributors who voted for our Supplier of Year commented that this company does whatever it takes, has good inventory, a helpful art department and fast service. Others went on to say that their can-do attitude helps distributor sales people always meet client needs.

MULTI-LINE REP OF THE YEAR — Cochran & Company
Creative, hard-working and knowledgeable are words that were used over and over again by distributors when asked about our SPPA Multi-Line Rep of the Year. They said they’re available anytime of the day or night to help customers. They’re good to help with samples, personal product shows and informing distributors about new and innovative products that are available. Combine all of this with an impressive array of product lines and you get our SPPA Multi-Line Rep of the Year — Cochran and Company!

FACTORY REP OF THE YEAR — Drew Greer with SanMar
One of the distributors who voted for our Factory Rep of the Year says that “he’s there if we need assistance.” Another remarked that this factory rep provides “excellent service and product knowledge.” Several mentioned his follow-up, responsiveness, timely quotes and extensive knowledge. Indeed, these are all characteristics that make a great factory rep and are traits exhibited by our SPPA Factory Rep of the Year — Drew Greer!

We’ve seen team websites jumping the gun on selling merchandise celebrating big wins, but it’s hard to remember preemptively heralding gear that mourns a big loss. The description of the shirt read: “The Wildcats had an amazing season and made it all the way to the Elite Eight. It may be the end of basketball season, but don’t let it end your devotion.”

Small printing houses booming in the 'maker movement'
FESPA
The maker movement is a trend that focuses on and celebrates the small creative businesses involved in the hand producing and manufacturing of products. In the printing industry this can mean a small screen printing house or embroidery company — growing and succeeding in a what was previously a shrinking area of business.
