SPPA to co-host Product Safety Awareness Conference in Nashville
SPPA and PPAMS will co-host a Product Safety Awareness Conference in Nashville on July.
The day-long conference is free to members of both associations. After the completion of the
conference attendees will be a designated “Product Safety Ambassador” by PPAI and their
companies will have the PPAI “Product Safety Aware” status.

FDA warns against temporary tattoos
A press-on butterfly tattoo may seem like an easy alternative to the pain and permanency of real ink, but the Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that temporary tattoos aren't risk free.
FDA officials cautioned that temporary tattoos can cause allergic reactions, in a May 13 seminar on the agency's website. The FDA would like temporary tattoo users to report reactions to the government, said Katherine Hollinger, an epidemiologist with the FDA Office of Cosmetics and Colors.

Magnet ingestion triples among children, despite new safety advisories

The number of children who have ingested powerful magnets that can cause serious health problems tripled between 2002 and 2012, according to new research published in The Journal of Pediatrics.
The researchers divided the time span into two periods: 2002 to 2009, and 2010 to 2012, to reflect the introduction of small, spherical magnetic sets (also known as Buckyballs or Zen Magnets) in 2009.
