The leader of a Tea Party group is blaming the cancellation of a planned three-day conference on the event planner he hired. Matt Perdue, president of Tea Party Support, alleges that event planner Jennifer Ramirez-Jasiczek diverted registration payments from a PayPal account designated for the conference into one for her own personal use. Ramirez-Jasiczek disputes Perdue's allegations and says she quit working on the event on Dec. 31 because Tea Party Support was behind in its payments to her. Hurricane Ike mangled Kris Hall's beachfront vacation home in the exclusive Sands of Kahala Beach subdivision on Galveston Island. Like the owners of some five dozen other island beachfront dwellings, he was counting on a federal buyout program to help him recover his investment. Now his homeowners association appears poised to block the buyout. The number of home listings in Houston was down 5 percent in December from the month prior, according to a new report by ZipRealty Inc. Emeryville, Calif.-based ZipRealty’s monthly local market survey of home listings, which is called the Housing Inventory Index and is based on Multiple Listing Service data, showed that Houston had 26,038 listings in December, down 11.7 percent from December 2008.
