Perry's office said details of the plan, activated Tuesday, wouldn't be released because of security concerns. However, Perry said that, "With the growing threat of violence in Mexico spilling over the border, we have taken important measures to increase the law enforcement presence along the Texas border and have placed additional resources on standby to combat any potential situation." Gov. Rick Perry will be in Fort Worth on Friday to formally present the family of Tim Cole with a posthumous pardon he granted the wrongfully convicted inmate this month. After his access to Lake Travis was limited during the drought, Bob Wynne, 68, decided to sue the Lower Colorado River Authority this year. In the lawsuit, filed in state District Court in Travis County, he claims the LCRA has damaged his property by sending water downriver for electrical generation. He also argues that the LCRA releases excessive amounts of water for irrigation and for fish and wildlife downstream. More

John Ringer admitted he saw the sign that said the Texas City Dike was closed. He admitted he was riding on the Hurricane Ike-damaged road last fall when four police arrived and gave him a ticket. Unfortunately for Ringer and the thousands of others who complain the 5-mile-long pier, closed since Hurricane Ike wrecked it, should reopen sooner rather than later, the dike still is closed and still off limits to the public. Janvey seeks a court order requiring Barnes to return more than $5 million that he was paid by Stanford or his companies from 2005 to 2009, when the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission accused Stanford of leading a $7 billion investment fraud.
