TAB Board Elections underway — Vote now!

Elections are underway to fill nine seats on the TAB Board of Directors and approve a slate of officers for the coming year. The elections once again are being conducted electronically. Ballots have been emailed to members and reply emails with votes are due no later than July 28. TAB members elect the broadcasters whom represent their particular market size or membership class, with at least one seat coming up for election each year. Only one person may cast votes for a station or station cluster.More

Texas Supreme Court ruling guts transparency of private/public partnerships

In a profound 6-3 ruling, the Texas Supreme Court said the Greater Houston Partnership does not have to open its books to public scrutiny of its publicly-funded economic development activities. The decision turned the clock back on nearly 40 years of Texas Public Information Act case law that said private entities receiving government money were required to release certain information if they passed a series of legal tests such as functioning as an arm of the government.More
