New 'RIP' bullet hailed as 'one-shot man-stopper'

A newly developed bullet from G2 Research is being billed as the last round a gun owner will ever need: a smashing hunk of copper with full metal jacket power to shred through solid objects and stop attackers in their tracks. G2R, the Windsor, Ga., company that created the Radically Invasive Projectile, or R.I.P., says the bullet is like a full metal jacket when it strikes and is designed "to take out all your vital organs."

Texas singer-songwriter Steven Fromholz dies in hunting accident
The Dallas Morning News
Texas singer and songwriter Steven Fromholz has died in a hunting accident when a rifle fell and discharged. The Schleicher County Sheriff's Office said the accident happened at the Flying B Ranch near Eldorado, about 40 miles south of San Angelo. Fromholz was 68.

Gun rights activists tote weapons during trash pickup

A group of open-carry gun rights activists were busy picking up trash while packing heat. The group called "Open Carry Texas" came in from Temple. They advocate for the right to openly carry firearms in public which is legal in the Lone Star State. The group says they are working to spread the word about gun rights.

SHOT Show sets attendance record at Sands in Las Vegas

The 37th Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor, Trade Show, owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, saw a 6 percent jump in attendance this year, coming in at 67,000 attendees. A gathering place for shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries, the event took place Jan. 14-17 at the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Intruder fatally shot during break-in, homeowner charged for firearm violation

A morning home invasion in Jacksonville, Fla., ended with the suspect dead and the homeowner behind bars, but not because he shot the intruder. According to reports by local media, the suspect, an unidentified 20-year-old black male, broke into the home around 10 a.m. after smashing the glass on a side window. But once he made his way into the house, the armed homeowner opened fire on him.
