Saxet Gun Show owner says new contract is a non-starter
The Austin American-Statesman
The gun show contract approved by Travis County commissioners is a non-starter, the owner of the Saxet Gun Show says. The contract for future gun shows at the Travis County Exposition Center would have required at least 90 percent of the vendors to be federally-licensed gun dealers, and all of the buyers would have to clear a background check. That measure was rejected on arrival by Saxet Gun Show organizers who have repeatedly said they won't host a show that requires non-licensed sellers to conduct background checks.

Mere presence of gun prompts no-knock raid
WND
Texas law-enforcement officers conducted a no-knock raid as if a firearm in the home "could somehow load itself, disengage its own safety, open the door, and begin to fire at the police," according to a brief submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court. Attorneys with William Olson P.C. and the the United States Justice Foundation submitted the friend-of-the-court brief this week in a case brought on behalf of John Quinn.

Open carry supporters don rifles at rally
KDFW-TV
Some North Texans want the legal right to carry both long guns and handguns out in the open. Open Carry Tarrant County held a peaceful demonstration in Keller recently. The group organized the rally to show their support for the Second Amendment. "We see a problem with gun rights, they're very far away from what the Constitution originally intended for the Second Amendment, and so we are trying to further gun rights in Texas," said Kory Watkins.

Colorado's new gun control laws proving difficult to enforce
The Daily Caller
Colorado's new gun laws limiting the size of ammunition magazines and requiring background checks aren't resulting in a rash of criminal charges. In fact, in at least one Colorado county, the new laws haven't resulted in a single case. The Colorado State Patrol also said it wasn't aware of its troopers citing anyone for violations.

Senator: Make it legal to bring concealed guns across state lines
Politix
Concealed gun permit holders would be able to travel lawfully to other states with their firearms, under legislation offered by Sen. John Cornyn. The Texas Republican's bill would require states that have concealed-carry laws to allow permit holders from other states to carry weapons, as long as they abide by restrictions in jurisdictions they are visiting. Currently, all states allow some form of concealed carry although some, such as New York and Connecticut, are much more stringent than states such as Texas.

Is price of an armed America a more dangerous America?
The Christian Science Monitor
Charles Ingram and Robert Webster were neighbors in Florida, but friends said the two older men had little love for each other and often quarreled. On a spring day in 2010, the two men, both gun enthusiasts who had state permits to carry concealed weapons, got into another argument across their lawns.

Bloomberg group blasts billboard 'assault rifle' as American as apple pie and baseball
The Washington Times
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, which is funded by New York City billionaire Mike Bloomberg, wants billboards taken down for depicting "assault rifles" as being as American as apple pie and baseball. The ad for Slide Fire, a firearms parts manufacturer in Texas, is up in several cities, including Chicago. Nicole Chen, the head of the gun-control group's Illinois chapter, said she was "shocked" that the ad "removes 'mom' from the idiom 'as American as baseball, apple pie and mom,' and replaces it with an assault rifle."

Gun rights proponent Ted Nugent spares no indictment of the liberal left during Harrisburg visit
The Patriot News
It's not hard to get Ted Nugent to talk, and even though his handlers gave PennLive instructions that the recent interview with him at the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, W.Va., would be limited to questions about his show on the Outdoor Channel, Nugent, as typical, was at the ready at the starting gate and once he took off, there was no stopping him.
