Top 12 reasons for FBI NICS background check denials over the past 15 years
Guns.com
Over the past 15 years of data collected by the FBI's NICS background check system just over a million applicants out of 183 million checks were denied to buy a firearm, almost all for one of 12 reasons. In November 1998, the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS system went live and began the congressionally mandated process of clearing each potential gun buyer who went through an FFL holder. The center is located at the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services Division in Clarksburg, W.Va., and is open 17 hours a day to issue either a "proceed," "cancel," "delay" or "deny" order when FFL holders call in to vet a gun buyer or transferee.

Senator proposes gun control regulations that would destroy the entire US handgun market
Bearing Arms
Anti-gun Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey's proposed gun control legislation is even more absurd than we expected, suggesting that fingerprint recognition and RFID-activated firearms become the standard for so-called smart guns. Apparently, it doesn't get cold enough in Massachusetts for people to wear gloves, and people with dirty or injured hands don't deserve to live if attacked.

The basics of resizing rifle and pistol cartridge cases
OutdoorHub
Every time you pull the trigger, lots of violent things happen inside the chamber of your gun. All of this happens in a split second and is the reason that, when reloading your own ammunition, you need to resize the brass cartridge case. While resizing the cartridge case rarely compresses a case to its original size, it will crush it back within cartridge dimension standards, allowing it to chamber in any gun of the proper caliber.

Man wearing pro-gun T-shirt thrown out of Texas voting booth
InfoWars
Election officials ejected a Texas man from a voting booth because he was wearing a Second Amendment T-shirt. Chris Driskill was prevented from voting at the Waller County Courthouse after officials claimed he was violating Texas Election Code section 85.036, which states that "a person may not electioneer for or against any candidate, measure, or political party" in or within 100 feet of a voting location.

Growth chart of right to carry
The Washington Post
The chart shows how Shall Issue laws for the licensed carrying of firearms for self-defense have become the American norm. As of 1986, slightly less than 10 percent of the U.S. population lived in states where there were objective and fair procedures for the issuance of concealed handgun carry permits. About a third of the population lived in states where there was not even a process to apply for a permit. The majority of the population lived in states where issuance in permits was highly discretionary, and many issuing authorities refused to issue to ordinary law-abiding citizens.

FBI: More guns, less violent crime
The Daily Caller
Two sets of data published by the FBI seven months apart show increased gun ownership coinciding with a reduction in violent crime. Last July, the FBI completed its monthly update of an online table showing the number of firearm-related checks conducted through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. The new numbers showed that the number of checks increased from 8.9 million during the first six months of 2012, to a whopping 11.4 million during the same period in 2013, an increase of 29 percent.

Home defense shotgun: Myths and reality
The Daily Caller
A shotgun is one of the most versatile but hard-to-master firearms available. They are usually (with exception of NFA items) bulky, heavy, slow to reload and hold a laughable amount of ammo. In multi-gun competitions, which are held around the country, any experienced shooter will tell you this. Loading the shotgun is what makes or breaks you. The shotgun is not a magic talisman that will scare away an intruder, nor will the spread of the projectiles insure you can’t miss.

The buck who carried his rival's head
OutdoorHub
While it may look like a grisly trophy, the story behind the picture of the antler-locked bucks above is one of survival and endurance. Luke Laha, a wildlife management instructor in Kansas, was asked about how he and his students rescued an antler-locked deer that had been carrying around the head of his rival. So how did this deer come to be wearing such bizarre headgear? Laha said that there was once a body attached to that head, before the coyotes came.

Patience is often the key to a successful hunt
By John McAdams
As I grow older and more experienced as a hunter, one specific trait seems to become more important to success than any other: patience. I have missed many an opportunity while hunting due to lack of patience and a desire to rapidly accomplish something. However, there have been several events where I have been successful due to slowing down and waiting. The story of my first "trophy" white-tailed deer is a key example of how patience can pay off.
