The Shooting Wire
Smith & Wesson Corp. announced that Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president and CEO of the National Rifle Association, visited the company's Springfield, Mass., headquarters to meet employees and to tour the company's manufacturing operations. During his visit to the 162-year-old firearms manufacturer, LaPierre was presented with a $600,000 company donation by President and CEO, James Debney. Debney also announced that Smith & Wesson will expand its support of the NRA by adding a company-paid annual NRA membership to its Employee Benefit Program for all full-time employees beginning in 2015.
The 10 most underrated guns of our time
Shooting Times
Some guns have earned a legion of loyal followers that are ready to come to blows if anyone badmouths their brand. This reputation is usually deserved, and many brand loyalists feel that nothing will ever be as good as the gun they hold close to their hearts. But for the more open-minded shooter, there are also a lot of firearms out there that haven’t gotten the press they deserve.

The best home defense lasers at every price point
Guns & Ammo
A laser—preferably in combination with a white light—allows the homeowner to identify a threat, acquire a sight picture (the image of the laser on the target), and stop the threat without changing one's focus from the target back to the sights. Let's say you find yourself in an awkward shooting position, such as holding your child or a phone in your weak hand, while holding a handgun at the retention position. Due to the close confines of a hall or doorway, you can fire accurately during an otherwise hopeless situation with a laser.
Walther CCP — Concealed Carry Pistol — full specs, pricing revealed
Guns.com
Walther is officially unveiling their new CCP — Concealed Carry Pistol — an upcoming single-stack subcompact with an action that is far from ordinary. Of course, we got the scoop ahead of time when Walther slipped and accidentally (or "accidentally") posted details of this pistol on their website. With the cat out of the bag they are releasing all of the details on this interesting new pistol ahead of schedule. Walther had originally intended to hang on to their announcement until the upcoming NRA Annual Meeting, which will take place in Indianapolis, Ind., April 25-27 this year.
Analogy fail
Shall Not Be Questioned
Sebastian for Anti-Gun Folks, writes: "I know many people think I should ignore the Brady Board member from Minnesota, but as a leader in their movement, I think it's worth pointing out how they think. Earlier this week she managed to put together a coherent argument, even though the analogy fails on every level."

Connecticut in turmoil as gun owners demand return of rights
Newsmax
A Second Amendment fight is brewing in Connecticut over new legislation that turned tens of thousands of gun owners into potential felons. The law, passed last April in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, put in place bans on magazines that carry more than 10 rounds of ammunition and on many types of weapons, including those that simply have the cosmetic appearance of assault weapons.
How to choose concealed carry insurance
Guns & Ammo
Most of us carry at least one insurance policy. Whether that policy covers your home, your car, your health or your life, in most cases you choose to protect yourself against the unexpected. Most gun owners view our possession of firearms as an insurance policy in itself. A firearm in the nightstand or carried concealed is self-administered insurance against those who could harm us. But what if the unthinkable happens? If you're forced to use your firearm in self-defense, what happens in the aftermath of the incident?

Navy Yard shooting deemed 'preventable' but not for the fashionable reasons
National Review Online
Supervisors of the gunman who killed 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard last year noticed his erratic behavior well before the shooting but did not reveal any problems to the government, a Navy investigation has found. "Had this information been reported, properly adjudicated and acted upon, [Aaron] Alexis's authorization to access secure facilities and information would have been revoked," the report said — and the shooting might have been prevented.
ATF v. ARES Armor more than a war of words
The Shooting Wire
Recently, the ATF escalated what had to that point been a war of words with Oceanside, Calif.-based Ares Armor. That's when ATF agents raided Ares' Oceanside location and seized what we've been told was as many as 6,000 of the Ares/EP Armory lowers that are at the heart of the matter. No Ares employees were arrested in the raid. A YouTube video shows ATF Agents examining a computer on a sales counter while an irate female asks "would you want me bursting into your home?"

The new Umarex Octane pellet rifle shoots .22 caliber pellets at rimfire speeds with the ReAxis gas piston. These air rifles use the SilencAir system to reduce muzzle noise. Rimfire costs 4x as much as pellets and rimfire availability is still problematic.

New Remington R51 9mm review
US Shooter
Kevin Mazza, a contributor for US Shooter, writes: "Remington's latest handgun release is the R51 semi automatic. I have to say that I wasn't impressed with the appearance at all. It's ugly and looks kind of cheap. And people think the Glock is ugly?"
'Gun control' messages 'evolve'
Guns Magazine
Time was citizen disarmament zealots didn't feel the need to hide their intentions. The goals of The National Coalition to Ban Handguns and Handgun Control Inc. were pretty clear just by their names. That they now bill themselves respectively as the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence says much about their perceived need to mask what they're really after. And nowhere is the need to disguise intent more apparent than the way the term "gun control" is being replaced with another term, "gun safety." Who could be against that?

Browning Superposed and Citori Shotguns: A tradition of innovation meets an innovation of tradition
Guns.com
With over 120 of the world's most innovative firearms patents to his credit, you may find it almost poetic that John Moses Browning's last invention was a double-barreled shotgun, the Browning superposed. Well, "innovations" aside, this traditional over and under scattergun is considered by many wingshooters and sporting clay hobbyists to be just about one of his best ideas.
