Lawmaker Aims at Making Texas Firearms Exempt from Federal Regulation
from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Rep. Leo Berman, a former Arlington mayor pro tem, has filed a bill to make guns, ammunition and gun parts that are made, sold and kept in Texas free from federal regulation. That would exempt them from federal gun registration, dealer licensing rules and buyer background checks. State laws would still apply. More

Texas Senate Panel Looks at Concealed Carry on Campus
from The Texas Senate News
Students at public universities in Texas could be armed in class under a bill considered by the Senate State Affairs Committee. Under current law, it is illegal to carry a concealed handgun on a college campus even if a person has a concealed handgun license (CHL). Advocates of the bill argue that in light of past shootings at college campuses, students need to have access to firearms to protect themselves. More

Gun Rights Attack Chock Full of Holes
from The Daily News
Dishonesty is a common thread through the arguments for controlling crime by limiting the general public’s access to firearms. from the U.S. House of Representatives
U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) has introduced legislation to restore the gun rights of individuals convicted of minor, non-violent crimes. H.R. 2153, the Second Amendment Restoration Act, ensures states have the discretion to restore individuals’ gun rights after conviction of minor crimes. The National Rifle Association (NRA) has endorsed the legislation. More

Gun-rights Supporters are Misrepresented
from the Deseret News
In recent weeks, there have been countless statements made by politicians, pundits and even the Department of Homeland Security that gun ownership or support for the Second Amendment is connected to, if not synonymous with, violent behavior. Unfortunately, this false assumption has permeated its way into the media's editorials, political cartoons and news stories. More

BATFE Reform Bill Introduced In U.S. Senate
from NRA-ILA
Senators Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) introduced S. 941 -- the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act" -- on April 30.
