On May 3, 350 shooters competed in one of Houston Safari Club's biggest events, the Shoot for the Troops Sporting Clays Tournament held at the Greater Houston Gun Club. Many of the shooters were HSC members and their guests, but the highlights were the dozens of wounded warriers from the Houston and San Antonio area. More

Gun carriers from other states welcome in Oklahoma

Gun-toting residents of other states will be allowed to carry concealed weapons in Oklahoma under a bill signed into law by Gov. Mary Fallin. The bill allows gun owners from states that don't require a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Oklahoma. Under the bill, the firearm must remain concealed and the person must have a valid identification to prove that he or she is a legal resident of a non-permitting state. More

A spokeswoman for House oversight committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa told The Daily Caller that Attorney General Eric Holder could still avoid the contempt of Congress proceedings on the horizon — if he cooperates with the congressional subpoena he’s thus far failed to comply with. 2012 marks 75 years of federal aid in wildlife restoration program success

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the passage of the landmark Pittman-Robertson, also known as Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act, which directs excise taxes collected on the sale of firearms and ammunition to be used exclusively by state wildlife agencies for improving wildlife populations, hunter education and public access to the outdoors. Spring squirrel season in Texas, worth the mosquitoes

An East Texas hunting tradition got under way in the first week of May, and from all reports, hunters are doing well. The spring squirrel season runs from May 1-30 and is quite popular to the few who still squirrel hunt. There seems to be plenty of bushytails in the bottoms, and hunters are getting plenty of opportunities. Evidently the drought had little effect on the squirrel population. More
