8 ways the media doesn't understand gun owners
Guns & Ammo    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
From Kyle Wintersteen: This is a dire situation: I have three anti-gun media hit pieces left to read, and I'm down to my last antacid. I normally ration them, but that last story was a real doozy. Why endure such torture? If you can grasp the mindset of someone who fears gun ownership — who doesn't even trust himself with the right, let alone you — you'll be better equipped to articulate your point of view. More

GOP closer to holding Holder in contempt
Politico    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Republicans have a new ultimatum: If Eric Holder doesn't deliver a trove of Fast and Furious documents to Capitol Hill by mid-June, the House will vote to hold him in contempt of Congress. A contempt vote would not only represent a dramatic escalation in the investigation into the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal, it would be a crowd-pleaser for conservatives who believe GOP leaders have been dragging their feet on the push from Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif. to bring a contempt vote on Holder. More

USA Shooting    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The 525 targets thrown in men's skeet during the two-part U.S. Olympic Team Trials weren't nearly enough to decide one of the nominees for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team in Tucson, Ariz. For three worthy adversaries, Olympic fate would go to sudden death with a 25-target shoot-out. After a nearly flawless performance by Vincent Hancock, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist earned his way back onto another Olympic team but held off celebrating until his skeet teammate was determined. FINALLY, a gun lubricant exists that can withstand the most extreme conditions.
After using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus, Floro Lavalle with Sierra Outfitters in Argentina reported cleanings were much easier, they were needed less frequently and field jamming went down to almost non-existent. While these statements may seem generic and boring, consider that they shoot on average 2000-5000 rounds per day per gun, OVER 1 MILLION ROUNDS PER YEAR, and pair that with Lavalle’s full season of using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus. His report was an 83% reduction in repair/replacement costs. MORE...

Houston Chronicle    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Texas is home to the nation's largest number of doves and dove hunters, and state and national wildlife managers will spend this summer focusing several research efforts on learning more about both. In June, 800 of Texas' 300,000-plus dove hunters will be among the thousands across the nation asked to participate in a survey aimed at helping wildlife managers learn the demographics of the nation's million-plus dove hunters, how and where and with what gear they hunt, and their opinions on issues such as use of nontoxic shot for dove hunting.
