Boerne's Morrill wins at USAS Nationals

At the 2011 National Championships for Rifle and Pistol, Meghann K. Morrill of Boerne, Texas, won the Women's 10m Air Rifle National Champion title. Morrill entered the final with 790 match points after the two-day competition. Situated in third place, her outstanding final of 102.9 points propelled her to the top of the podium with 892.9 total points. The silver medalist was Sarah Beard of Danville, Ind. More



TSRA Gun Show takes place in Mesquite on July 30-31

Be sure and make plans to attend the TSRA's 2011 Gun Show on July 30-31 at the Mesquite Convention Center in Mesquite, Texas. The show hours are Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost of admission is $8 for a day pass or $10 for a weekend pass. Kids 12 and under are free with a paid adult. If you are a TSRA member and you show your membership card at the door, you get in for $6 a day or $8 for a weekend pass. To attend the gun show for free, simply join, renew or upgrade your TSRA membership at the door. More

Second Amendment Foundation wins injunction against Chicago gun range ban

In a 3-0 ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit has reversed a lower court ruling and ordered that court to issue a preliminary injunction against the City of Chicago on behalf of the Second Amendment Foundation that prevents the city from banning gun ranges inside city limits. Joining SAF in the original lawsuit were Action Target, Inc., the Illinois State Rifle Association and three Chicago residents, Rhonda Ezell, William Hespen and Joseph Brown. More

Congressman attempts to misdirect ATF investigation, promotes anti-gun agenda

Despite having expressed support for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's investigation of ATF's Operation Fast and Furious, the committee's ranking member, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, D-Md., held a forum that tried to turn the investigation into an opportunity to advance gun control. Rep. Cummings trotted out gun-control proponents at his forum and issued a report entitled "Outgunned" that suggests a lack of gun control is somehow responsible for Operation Fast and Furious. More

Texan finishes second at USAS National Championships

In Junior Men's 50m Rifle Prone, Ryan Anderson of Great Falls, Va., is the new USAS national champion. Headed into the final one-point behind Samuel Muegge of Boling, Texas, Anderson overtook Muegge with the highest final of 103.1 points. He finished with 1288.1 total points. Muegge shot 1186 match points and 100.9 points in the final to finish with the silver medal and 1286.9 total points. More
