Target's no-gun request won't affect Open Carry Texas, spokesman says
KERA-FM
Target has joined the growing list of stores asking customers to leave their guns at home. The retailer’s move comes after pictures circulated online of gun rights supporters bringing semiautomatic rifles into stores in North Texas and elsewhere. Tov Henderson, a spokesman with Open Carry Texas, says he doesn’t think the Target ban will affect his group that much. That’s because several months ago, Open Carry Texas told its members to stop bringing rifles into businesses.

Shooters welcome at 'guntry clubs'
The Washington Times
A shooting range consultant is opening a 65,000-square-foot indoor facility in October — the latest in a number of shooting clubs that have been popping up in places from gun-friendly Colorado and Texas to Miami’s Wynwood Arts District. Greg Wodack, the owner and operator of Elite Shooting Sports LLC, and his team broke ground on the location just off of Interstate 66 in Gainesville, Virginia, in April and have been working at a breakneck pace to open on schedule in October.

Planting beneficial food plots for deer
AmmoLand
Brassica mixtures containing rape and turnips can produce mixed results. Some hunters swear deer won’t touch the stuff and spending the money and putting in all the hard work is a total waste. What Glen Wunderlich has found is that it all depends on factors such as competing cash crops in the area — especially corn. Deer can literally live in the seclusion provided by corn — and will.

Decision expected soon on Arlington open carry lawsuit
KHOU-TV
A federal judge said he'll soon issue a decision in the case of open carry gun advocates against the City of Arlington. The case involves whether open carry advocates, or any other pedestrians, can interact with motorists at busy intersections. An organizer with Open Carry Tarrant County, Kory Watkins, sued the city, and says he wants a federal judge to issue a restraining order against Arlington while the lawsuit goes forward.

States look to gun-seizure law after mass killings
The Washington Post
As state officials across the country grapple with how to prevent mass killings like the ones at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, some are turning to a gun-seizure law pioneered in Connecticut 15 years ago. Rachel Baird, a Connecticut lawyer who has represented many gun owners, said one of the biggest problems with the state’s law is that police are abusing it. She said she has had eight clients whose guns were seized by police before the required warrants were obtained.

Neck sizing, a bolt-action specialty
Gun Digest
For those accuracy hounds who love to tweak their ammunition to wrangle every possible bit of hair-splitting accuracy, neck sizing the cases is an often employed technique. This requires a special neck sizing die, which doesn’t resize the fired cases like a conventional sizing die, but only resizes the neck portion of the case. The case body and shoulder are left to the dimensions that the case had after firing, allowing a tighter fit to the chamber, and more consistent placement in the rifle’s chamber.

Open carry, would you like fries with that?
Gun Digest
Open carry has caused waves in recent months. But at one Colorado eatery, it’s just another day on the job. Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado, (my God, how apt!) has gained national attention because of its stance towards open carry. Put simply, it’s encouraged among both staff and patrons. As restaurant owner Lauren Boebert explained to KJCT8.com, this is not a stunt meant to drive business. Instead, she initiated the practice around a year ago when Shooters opened as a way for she, her staff and her customers to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

Top 5 all-around sporting cartridges
American Rifleman
Aficionados of sporting rifles detest the notion of one rifle that can do virtually everything. We love rifles, and the more, the better. But there are those who cannot afford or don’t want a gaggle of rifles to take care of. They value simplicity and versatility, and often they like to say, “Beware the man with one gun. He probably knows how to use it.” Here’s a look at five of the most popular all-around cartridges with some mentions of their not-so-popular ballistic twins.

Q&A: CJ Grisham, founder of Open Carry Texas, on what's next
The Dallas Morning News
Open Carry Texas’ stated mission is to educate Texans about their right to carry rifles and shotguns openly, and to encourage lawmakers to add handguns to that list. Raising awareness has brought some controversy: Public displays of long weapons are legal in Texas, but in many cases they have alarmed people at stores and restaurants. Points asked Army Master Sgt. CJ Grisham, the group’s founder, to discuss Open Carry Texas and its future.

Why the US military made the right decision ditching the M1911
Guns
When the United States military chose the Beretta Model 92 to replace the all-American M1911 as the standard sidearm, people lost their minds. It was as if society forgot about the M16′s failure in Vietnam and all the men who died as a result, did so for nothing.
