TSRA Gun Show only 9 days away!

Greetings! The Texas State Rifle Association, the NRA state affiliate, is having its annual gun show. It will be held at the Mesquite Convention Center on July 30-31. Admission is $8 a day or $10 for a weekend pass; children 12 and under are free with a paid adult. Times are Saturday, July 30, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, July 31, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Come shop an acre of guns and hunting gear. Buy, sell and trade all types of firearms. There will be more than 350 tables and free parking. Anyone needing vendor or attendance information should contact Crystal Walker at cwalker@tsra.com or call 512-615-4200. Dove hunting is just around the corner and it's always the season for collectors! Buy a weekend pass and bring the family to Mesquite.

Panhandle student wins NWTF's national FFA scholarship

The NWTF has awarded David Underwood of Dimmitt a $5,000 National FFA Collegiate Scholarship. Underwood graduated second in his class of 65 students at Dimmitt High School and maintained a 3.85 cumulative grade-point average throughout his high school career. He plans to attend Texas Tech University in the fall to pursue a bachelor's degree in wildlife management. More

ISSF World Cup Slovenia: Women's skeet

In one of the most exciting finals of the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup Slovenia, China's Donglian Zhang captured the Women's Skeet gold medal in a shoot-off with Panayiota Andreou of Cyprus. Zhang shot 72 out of 75 match targets and 22 targets in the final for 94 total targets. The USA Shooting Team's Connie Smotek of College Station was the highest-placing American with 68 targets for 23rd place. More

Team USA FITASC wins 6 medals

Team USA FITASC has brought home six medals from the 2011 World FITASC Sporting Championships held in Orville, France, including a gold medal for Junior shooter David Radulovich; Silver medals for Junior, Veteran and Super Veteran teams; and individual bronzes for Senior shooter Anthony Matarese, Jr. and Super Veteran Michael Taylor.
