Why are the sales for firearm silencers, suppressors on the rise?

A few years ago, Josh Waldron started up a company that makes silencers or suppressors for guns and rifles. This year, he expects around $20 million in sales. "This is nothing new to the world, and we have a lot of history of these being safety products and not the contrary," Waldron said. Why are sales for silencers on the rise? Waldron says gun owners want to protect their hearing. Why not just wear earmuffs or earplugs?

Open carry remains a hot topic in Southeast Texas

For the first time, members of the Beaumont Police Department and Derek Poe came together to discuss the right to openly carry long arms in public. It's been a hot topic in Southeast Texas since Poe was charged with disorderly conduct after carrying an AR-15 through Parkdale Mall in December — a case he's fighting to this day. But at the recent Press Club of Southeast Texas meeting, Beaumont Police Chief Jimmy Singletary said he's all for gun rights, if the public isn't spooked, and his officers aren't at risk.

Congress going after kid's shooting sports-branded clothing and colorful youth guns
GUNS
Congress Democrats introduced a bill to outlaw the marketing of guns and gun brands to the country’s youth on clothes or by making guns that appeal to kids. The ban which would be enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, will require warning labels on youth-sized firearms and ban child-sized clothing branded by shooting groups such as the National Rifle Association, or with of the logos of gun makers.

AK-47s from Russia can no longer be imported into US

This month, President Obama issued a number of executive orders on Russian companies, importing their products into the United States. This is including, the Russian company that makes AK-47s. These new sanctions are in response to Vladimir Putin over playing his hand in Ukraine. One of the ways President Obama is striking back at the Russians is not allowing any more Kalashnikov AK-47s to be imported here. But, there is confusion that AK-47s are banned in the U.S., but this is not true.

Criminal use of Airsoft guns worries police

The gun in Stephen Corkery's hand when he allegedly robbed several Spokane, Washington, businesses and walked into a fatal standoff on West Grace Avenue in March was fake, investigators say. The alleged crimes, and the consequences, were very real. Local law enforcement have responded to at least a dozen calls since the start of the year involving people armed with a gun that officers and bystanders believed was authentic, but turned out to be a realistic-looking replica.
