How to boost your benchrest shooting skills
Rifle Shooter
As shooters, Keith Wood believes we spend too much time shooting from the bench. Nonetheless, benchrest shooting does require proper technique. How will you know if your rifle is capable of shooting .75-inch groups if you can’t shoot with that level of precision? Proper benchrest shooting is a necessary evil for testing a rifle’s accuracy with various loads and for zeroing scopes.

Retailers and compliance — a proactive approach wins every time
National Shooting Sports Foundation
As a firearms retailer, how you conduct the business of transferring a legal firearm to a qualified buyer can change in the blink of an eye. New regulations get passed, new controls get put in place — and that makes negotiating the Federal Form 4473 a challenge at times. It’s a challenge to keep up with new changes in laws and regulations, but it’s imperative that retailers do. Otherwise, you’re guaranteed to fall behind — or worse

The case for allowing the blind to buy guns, from an NRA news contributor
The Huffington Post
Some people have a tinge of concern at the thought of blind people brandishing guns. The logic is that it's valuable to see what you’re shooting before you shoot. But Dom Raso, a commentator for NRA News, has a different take on the debate. In a video commentary posted online, he makes the case for allowing the blind to buy and carry guns under the auspices of self-defense and constitutional freedom.

Just 2 years out, Rio in sight for USA Shooting Team
USA Shooting
Reputations aren’t built overnight and USA Shooting’s significance as an Olympic sporting power has as much to do with its extensive history as does its recent accomplishments. Four U.S. shooting athletes reached the podium at the 2012 Olympic Games including Kim Rhode (women’s skeet/El Monte, California), Vincent Hancock (men’s skeet/Eatonton, Georgia), Jamie Gray (women’s 3P rifle/Lebanon, Pennsylvania) and Matt Emmons (men’s 3P rifle/Browns Mills, New Jersey). With three gold medals, the U.S. exceeded all other shooting teams since 1924, with the exception of one.

The gun-rental loophole
Politico
In the easternmost outskirts of Austin, Texas, there’s a gun club where Matt Valentine used to shoot skeet. Families came on weekends and made a day of it — there were picnic tables, vending machines and barbecue grills. A dog slept on the floor of the clubhouse. The adjacent property was a runway for radio-controlled airplanes, which we could see buzzing around beyond the range of the light target ammo in our shotguns. The outdoor skeet fields were neither as thunderous nor as claustrophobic as the indoor firing range in town. Valentine felt safe there.

The growing diversity of gun ownership
National Shooting Sports Foundation
Last October, Pennsylvania resident Shaneen Allen was arrested in New Jersey after being pulled over for a minor traffic violation. When the police approached her vehicle, the single mother voluntarily disclosed that she had a gun in her vehicle and had been issued a concealed carry permit in her home state. Since Allen was in New Jersey, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, and not Pennsylvania, she was arrested and spent 40 days in jail. While this is a tragic incident, Shaneen Allen herself is one example of the shifting demographics of gun owners, a story under-reported in the mainstream media.

It could be a contender
American Rifleman
People start learning to shoot handguns for many reasons. These days, it seems to be mostly for defensive reasons. Folks are afraid and that is sad, but a good gun, coupled with developed skill in its use, can be mighty comforting. Defensive handgunning separates into two general categories — concealed carry and home or camp defense. Without digressing into a lengthy discussion of various characteristics, the obvious rule is that a concealed-carry gun should be small enough to be habitually carried, while the home-defense gun can be anything up to a veritable howitzer.

Food plot partitioning
AmmoLand
With the increasing number of hunters planting food plots for wildlife, the need for some of us competitive minded folks to take farming for wildlife to another level has also risen. The days of just simply tossing a bag of grain bin floor sweepings out on plowed up field are over. With all of the research that has taken place over the last 15-20 years on the importance nutrition plays in the quest for healthier and bigger deer, gamekeepers have a lot of resources at their disposal to know what, when, where, why, and how to grow crops that are going to benefit their deer herd and other wildlife.

The courts advance concealed guns
Washington Examiner
Gun-control advocates are learning the downside of getting their way. Recently, a federal judge struck down the District of Columbia's ban on the carrying of concealed handguns. Anti-gun forces have been losing in legislatures for a long time. Now they are finding that even where they win, they lose. Washington used to have the strictest gun laws in America. Besides the prohibition of concealed guns, all firearms had to be registered and handgun ownership was forbidden.
