What the left won't tell you about the boom in US gun sales
Forbes    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
As gun sales surged in early 2009 the going joke among employees of gun manufacturers was that President Barack Obama was the "greatest gun salesman of all time." The trouble with this backhanded complement, however, is left-leaning news outlets have since used it to avoid something that really scares them. As ABC put it, Americans are buying more Glocks and Berettas simply because they fear "a second Obama administration might restrict gun ownership." Their reporting conveniently stops right there. A new report that shows more people are hunting is good news for conservation, according to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. The just-released 2011 National Survey of Hunting, Fishing and Wildlife-Associated Recreation shows 13.7 million people, or 6 percent of the U.S. population, age 16 and older, went hunting last year. That marks a 9 percent increase over 2006, reversing a previous downward trend. More

Master class shooter wins again
The New & Observer    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Thomas Matthews is only the third shooter ever to earn Master class designation from the National Sporting Clays Association after his 70th birthday. So when he came up a winner at Kidds Place in a shoot sponsored by the Eastern North Carolina chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society, it was no surprise to anyone. Matthews, a land surveyor from Sanford, hit 88 out of 100 clays to nip Dan Christoffersen by a single shot and Scott Nave by two to win the Master class. More

Schy said the shootings in Aurora, Colo., Virginia Tech and Columbine prompted her to take the classes. The after-school activities for her two teens involve taking gun classes, knife training, combat and self-defense. More

FINALLY, a gun lubricant exists that can withstand the most extreme conditions.
After using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus, Floro Lavalle with Sierra Outfitters in Argentina reported cleanings were much easier, they were needed less frequently and field jamming went down to almost non-existent. While these statements may seem generic and boring, consider that they shoot on average 2000-5000 rounds per day per gun, OVER 1 MILLION ROUNDS PER YEAR, and pair that with Lavalle’s full season of using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus. His report was an 83% reduction in repair/replacement costs. MORE...

NRA-ILA not worried about federal LE agencies' ammo buys
GunReports.com    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
You may recently have seen some in the Internet rumor mill feverishly stirring up fear about recent acquisitions of ammunition by the Department of Homeland Security and a number of smaller agencies. The mildest writers have questioned why seemingly mundane agencies would need ammunition at all; more incendiary authors suggest that these government agencies are preparing for a war with the American people, NRA-ILA comments. Will gun control flare up?
Lubbock Avalanche Journal via Odessa American Online    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
We are all concerned about gun violence, but what should we do? It wasn't long after the mass shootings in Colorado on July 20 for the subject of guns to become part of discussions by the presidential candidates. President Barack Obama, who supported gun control back in his U.S. Senate days, suggested more detailed background checks for people who want to purchase guns and restrictions to keep mentally imbalanced individuals from buying guns. Read my lips ... No new ammunition taxes
Ammoland.com    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Here we go again. The flagship of the mainstream news media is digging up old ideas to punish law-abiding gun owners. A recent article in the The New York Times recirculates a nearly 20-year old idea for mandating exorbitant taxes on ammunition. The premise is that taxing ammunition at an extremely high rate would reduce firearm-related violence. More

Colt Competition Pro: A great 3-gun rifle
Outdoor Life    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The Colt Manufacturing Company has always had a strong following among the civilian population, but you can't really blame these fans for feeling neglected. The focus of Colt, until just recently, was relentlessly on the military and law enforcement side of its business. At best, civilian shooters were an afterthought. And like jilted lovers, they've felt bitter about Colt's seeming lack of care or concern — though to its credit the company is now trying to make amends. More
