Texas law overrides NFL; allows armed off-duty officers at games
CBS Sports
A new NFL policy would ban off-duty police officers from carrying guns into games, except in Texas, CBS Dallas/Fort Worth reports. According to the NFL memo, "off-duty officers who attempt to bring firearms into an NFL facility will be denied entry," but a Texas state law supersedes NFL policy, and as long as officers check in at a specific gate to inform stadium security where they will be sitting, those officers can keep possession of their weapons.

West Fargo brothers claim 'twin' rams in Canada
West Fargo Pioneer
Brothers Cody and Kyle Shoman have been hunting with their grandfather, John Kautzman, all of their lives, and that experience paid off Aug. 21, when both of them shot a rocky mountain bighorn sheep on a hunting trip to British Columbia. "To get a double on rams like this is not something that happens every day, let alone two nice rams like we were fortunate to take," Cody said. "We will be forever grateful to have had this opportunity together."

California gun grab: Brown signs lead-ammo bill but vetoes ban on hunting rifles
The Washington Times
California Gov. Jerry Brown split the difference on the pile of gun-control bills sitting on his desk, opting to sign five but veto seven, including a bill that would have banned the sale of many popular hunting rifles. "The state of California already has some of the strictest gun laws in the country, including bans on military-style assault rifles and high-capacity ammunition magazines," said Brown in his veto message. "While the author's intent is to strengthen these restrictions, this bill goes much farther by banning any semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine."
