Obama suggests he would seek to revive ban on assault weapons
Reuters    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Democratic President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney engaged in a rare tussle over gun control on Tuesday, and Obama opened the door to pushing for a ban on assault weapons if he wins a second term. During their second election debate, both men largely danced around a gun-control question, a reflection of how they are wary of offending voters who support gun rights. However, Obama did say that he would back an assault-weapons ban like the one President Bill Clinton signed in 1994. More

Ex-justice urges next Congress, president to restrict Second Amendment
The Washington Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens demonstrated the importance of America's upcoming presidential choice as he spoke to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. Stevens told the assembled gun grabbers of the urgent need for Congress to adopt laws restricting the right to keep and bear arms. As the author of the dissenting opinions in the Heller and McDonald cases, which affirmed the right of individuals to keep handguns in the home, Justice Stevens said the high court precedent still allows new laws rolling back our rights. FINALLY, a gun lubricant exists that can withstand the most extreme conditions.
After using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus, Floro Lavalle with Sierra Outfitters in Argentina reported cleanings were much easier, they were needed less frequently and field jamming went down to almost non-existent. While these statements may seem generic and boring, consider that they shoot on average 2000-5000 rounds per day per gun, OVER 1 MILLION ROUNDS PER YEAR, and pair that with Lavalle’s full season of using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus. His report was an 83% reduction in repair/replacement costs. MORE...

The key word in the Second Amendment — infringed — means the government has no business violating our right to keep and bear arms — period. There is no hedging, no "only if" or "unless." Recent court decisions have upheld that reasoning. Yet despite the above, many elected or would-be candidates, at all levels of government, harbor a deep urge to infringe on the Second Amendment. Justice Department seeks dismissal of Fast and Furious lawsuit
The Associated Press via Fox News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The Justice Department sought dismissal of a lawsuit by a Republican-led House of Representatives committee demanding that Attorney General Eric Holder produce records about the botched law enforcement probe of gun-trafficking called Operation Fast and Furious. President Barack Obama has invoked executive privilege and the attorney general has been found to be in contempt of Congress for refusing to turn over documents. More

How to Texas rig a decoy
Lone Star Outdoor News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
For waterfowl hunters, less time picking up and putting out decoys means more minutes to hunt ducks. And the nearly undisputed method to best save time with decoy spreads is Texas rigging. The line used is the choosiest part of the process for most hunters. The most orthodox way consists of using monofilament between 300 and 500 pound, but hunters report success with weed eater string, in addition to cord similar to the decoy line Tanglefree offers. Amount of hunters, fishers increase, reversing trend
Houston Chronicle    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
More Texans and other Americans fished and hunted this past year than did six years ago, reversing what had been a slight but persistent long-term decline in participation in both activities over the past two decades, according to data from a federal survey. But the lingering effects of the 2008-2009 economic meltdown combined with this past year's record-setting drought appear to have had Texas hunters and anglers spending less to pursue their recreation than they did in 2006.
