Gallup: Most Americans support gun ownership

An overwhelming majority of Americans support handgun ownership, and there is increased opposition to a ban on so-called "assault weapons," according to the results of the annual Gallup Crime poll, conducted Oct. 6-9. Gallup recently released the results of its annual Crime poll, and the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation was quick to react. More



Katy's Eller sets Pan Am Games record

Glenn Eller of Katy began the day with 49 out of 50 targets in men's double trap at the Pan American Games. Looking to add to the USA's medal count, Sgt. Eller of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit shot a perfect 50 targets in his second round and 48 targets in the third round for 147 targets — just one target shy of the world record for the gold medal. More than 1,650 sporting clays shooters have descended on the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio for the 2011 National Sporting Clays Championship. The Main Event is underway and consists of four days of shooting on four different courses, and it will result in a new national champion on Sunday evening. More

Government defends gun sale reporting requirement

Gun store owners in southwestern border states argued in federal court that the Obama administration cannot require them to report when customers buy multiple high-powered rifles. The Justice Department responded to a lawsuit seeking to block the two-month-old requirement by asking a judge to uphold its legality, arguing the measure could help stop the flow of guns to Mexican drug cartels.
