Gun owners enter the fight of our lives
The Daily Caller    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The NRA has been saying all along that Barack Obama would unleash an assault on our Second Amendment freedoms if he won a second term. It sure didn't take long for him to prove us right. Just hours after Obama won re-election, his administration endorsed a new effort by the global gun grabbers at the United Nations to draft a gun ban treaty early next year. The official starting point for the new talks is last year's failed draft. More

Gun sales high following election
The Washington Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
President Barack Obama's re-election has sent Americans running to the gun stores. Sales of firearms and ammunition are way up in reaction to Obama saying during the debates he wants to ban everything from "cheap handguns" to common hunting rifles with scary-looking features. The two publicly traded U.S. gunmakers have seen investors flock to their stock since Nov. 6. Sturm, Ruger & Co. and Smith & Wesson are both up over 15 percent. More

NSSA-NSCA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Before the weather turns uninviting and schedules fill up with holiday obligations, the National Shooting Sports Foundation reminds experienced hunters and shooters that autumn is a great time of year to invite a newcomer, whether a youth or adult, to experience the rewards of hunting and target shooting. Being outdoors in the crisp air and enjoying the tapestry of colors only enhances our enjoyment of these activities. More

FINALLY, a gun lubricant exists that can withstand the most extreme conditions.
After using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus, Floro Lavalle with Sierra Outfitters in Argentina reported cleanings were much easier, they were needed less frequently and field jamming went down to almost non-existent. While these statements may seem generic and boring, consider that they shoot on average 2000-5000 rounds per day per gun, OVER 1 MILLION ROUNDS PER YEAR, and pair that with Lavalle’s full season of using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus. His report was an 83% reduction in repair/replacement costs. MORE...

Curing shooters' ADD
American Rifleman    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Here's the good news. Statistics show that unintentional firearms fatalities have significantly declined over the last 20 years, dropping 27 percent in the last decade, and 60 percent since 1989, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Firearms currently account for only 0.5 percent of accidental deaths in this country. This steady decline in fatal accidents has occurred while the number of firearms in American homes has increased. Hunters for the Hungry charity can help good deer managers become good Samaritans
The Dallas Morning News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
We're barely a week into the traditional fall deer season, and many hunters are passing up does while awaiting the biggest buck that lives near their deer stand. That's a poor strategy. Texas lost a lot of deer in the drought of 2011. A deer die-off is nature's harsh way of saying there are more animals than the range can support. While it has rained in 2012 and most of the state's deer are in good shape, you never know when the next drought will start. More

Running the gun: How to clear a handgun malfunction
Guns & Ammo    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
VideoBriefNo matter what type of pistol you carry or ammunition you feed it, there's a chance you'll experience a "click" instead of a "bang" when you pull the trigger. Should this occur, you need to have a plan to keep your gun running and stay in the fight. The theme of the most recent episode of Personal Defense TV was clearing a malfunctioned handgun. More

Handgun hunting for whitetails?
Gun Digest    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
From Dave Workman: Years ago, I was one of the loudest proponents for big-game handgun hunting in Washington State, and when we finally got the Game Commission to approve it, I quickly focused on a single-action Ruger Blackhawk chambered for the .41 Mag. cartridge, with a 6½-inch barrel. I still carry a .41 Mag. Blackhawk during deer season, and occasionally when I'm hunting grouse where there might be an encounter with a black bear. More

Texas mule deer hunters reminded of CWD testing requirements
Outdoorhub    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Wildlife officials are reminding mule deer hunters and landowners in far West Texas about new protocols developed as part of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Chronic Wasting Disease response plan. The plan includes mandatory check stations for harvested mule deer taken inside the CWD Containment Zone, which covers portions of Hudspeth and El Paso counties. See map of CWD zones here. More

Morning duck hunt on coast a success, despite low numbers of birds
Lone Star Outdoor News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The early light from the sun had just begun to peak over the horizon as the skiffs pulled into their designated blinds on the edge of Port Bay, near Rockport. The temperature was a balmy 65 degrees, but a howling wind out of the south brought hope that ducks would fly. The LSON crew of Craig Nyhus, Conor Harrison and John Keith, along with Capt. Scott Sommerlatte, hunted two blinds about 300 yards apart. More

More women enjoying hunting as pastime
The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Rachel Leitch of Moorhead, N.D., can't remember a time when she wasn't a hunter. Since she could walk, Leitch's dad took her to the deer stand each hunting season. "Everyone knows me as the girl who hunts," the 16-year-old said. Hunting, often seen as a men's hobby, is a popular pastime for many women. According to North Dakota Game and Fish, 13 percent of license applicants this year were women. More

Cold weather should equal hot waterfowl hunting
Ducks Unlmiited    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
For the past few weeks, waterfowlers have been lamenting the bipolar nature of pre-peak-migration duck hunting. It's a here-today-gone-tomorrow proposition, as once plentiful local birds get pushed out by hunting pressure, leaving the skies comparatively empty. That's the complaint from many on the Flyway, especially those in the central and southern parts. More
