CNN Poll: Support for stricter gun control fades
CNN
As memories fade from last December's horrific school shooting in Newtown, Conn., a new national poll indicates that support for stricter gun control laws appears to be fading, too. According to a new CNN/ORC International survey, 49 percent of Americans say they support stricter gun control laws, with 50 percent opposed. The 49 percent support is down six percentage points from the 55 percent who said they backed stricter gun control in CNN polling from January, just a few weeks after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

How the Nazis used gun control
National Review Online
In 1931, Weimar authorities discovered plans for a Nazi takeover in which Jews would be denied food and persons refusing to surrender their guns within 24 hours would be executed. They were written by Werner Best, a future Gestapo official. In reaction to such threats, the government authorized the registration of all firearms and the confiscation thereof, if required for "public safety." The interior minister warned that the records must not fall into the hands of any extremist group.

Colonel who vowed to disarm Americans works with Homeland Security
InfoWars
Lt. Col. Robert Bateman, the second amendment-hating Army Officer who caused controversy after vowing to "pry your gun from your cold, dead, fingers," works closely with the Department of Homeland Security. Recently, Bateman, an active military commander, penned a piece for Esquire magazine in which he promised to push for a total ban on all firearms besides muskets, shotguns and rifles, and shut down all gun manufacturers except for those who produced weapons for the federal government and the armed forces (you will be disarmed, the state will have a monopoly on firepower).

America's love of technology meets firearms in an imperfect union
NSSF
Despite what you may hear, the firearms industry is not opposed to the research and development of user-authorized recognition technology for firearms. So-called "smart guns," if they work as hoped, would prevent all but a specific users of a firearm from being able to fire it through the use of biometric or radio frequency identification with an activation system that would rely on a battery. Although attempts to develop and market such technology have been discussed for decades, there is new found interest in the topic aided by the latest James Bond movie, remarks from President Barack Obama, and the urgings of some anti-gun groups.
