Perry: Texas' economy puts it among world leaders

Today, no discussion of the world's economy or economic future is truly complete without including the State of Texas. That's a point I made as I met with global leaders in business and government at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. If I made nothing else clear, it's Texas has emerged as a critical figure on the world stage.

Report: US Travel's IPW event delivers Super Bowl-sized benefits

A new analysis released by the U.S. Travel Association shows that the organization's annual International Pow Wow event has an economic impact that rivals the Super Bowl. An international tourism marketplace designed to generate domestic and international tourism to the United States, IPW typically hosts more than 6,000 travel buyers, media and suppliers from more than 70 countries for three days of meetings and deal-making.

CheapAir.com adopts Bitcoins to book hotels

It may soon become easier for travelers to book entire vacations using Bitcoin, the digital currency. Online travel agency CheapAir.com has started accepting Bitcoins to make reservations at the more than 200,000 hotels in its worldwide network. In November, the website began taking Bitcoins for flight purchases, and CEO Jeff Klee said the website gained new customers after that.

Mobile commerce continues to grow at a fast pace. According to eMarketer, mobile commerce or m-commerce constitutes $41.68 billion of the total $262.3 billion of e-commerce sales for 2013 or an increase of 68.2 percent from 2012 and accounts for 16 percent of total e-commerce sales.
