DFW International Airport reaches milestone of 200 nonstop destinations

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport has reached a major milestone by reaching 200 nonstop destinations, with the announcements of new service by American Eagle to Hermosillo and Zacatecas, Mexico. The new flights, which begin in June, will give DFW Airport a grand total of 200 destinations, including 52 international and 148 U.S. domestic destinations. In surpassing 200 total destinations, DFW joins a select group of airports worldwide with that distinction, including Frankfurt, Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, and Munich.

Spending safeguards sought for proposed $2 billion water fund

A widely supported $2 billion proposal to jump-start water projects in Texas drew fresh scrutiny from a lawmaker who questioned how to keep the money from being spent improperly or manipulated for political purposes. A plan to tap the state's reserve funds to boost water resources in response to the ongoing drought is backed by majority Republicans and Democrats alike. But the details and the mere concept of using the state's emergency piggy bank has renewed debate about other state spending priorities and invited concerns of abuse of power.

Bill would allow iPad use from takeoff to landing
Frustrated with the slow process at the FAA, Sen. Claire McCaskill said she will write legislation to allow passengers to use electronic devices during all aspects of flight. In a letter to FAA Administrator Michael Huerta, the Missouri Democrat said she is "concerned" with Huerta's "lack of direct engagement" on expanding the use of personal electronic devices during flight and called the current set of rules that force passengers to put away their iPods at altitudes below 10,000 feet "preposterous."
