Bill taps into saltwater study for state

In the water session that has been the 83rd Texas Legislature, no options are off the table, including finding a way to make use of salty water. Hence, state Rep. Todd Hunter, R-Corpus Christi, has put forward House Concurrent Resolution 59. The bill concerns: "Requesting the speaker and lieutenant governor to create a joint interim committee to study seawater desalination on the Texas coast."

Cornell study links hotel reviews, room revenue

Online reviews of hotels are increasingly having an effect on room demand and now appear to be responsible for rate swings of more than 10 percent, according to a report published by the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. The study found a direct link between the rise or fall of revenue per available room (RevPAR) and improvements or declines in the online reputation of a hotel, driven by ratings on sites such as TripAdvisor and Travelocity.
