Texas job growth continues strong showing

The Texas economy continued its trend of job growth in May, expanding by 56,400 seasonally adjusted non-farm jobs. A total of 383,100 jobs were added in the past 12 months, making it the largest over-the-year job increase in Texas in nearly 17 years.

Texas Main Street program could bolster tourism

The City of Rosenberg wants tourism to come to the Historic Downtown District and by preparing an application to the Texas Main Street program, it's taking measures to make that happen. The program, a branch of the Texas Historical Commission, provides technical expertise, resources and support for Texas communities in the preservation and revitalization of historic downtowns and commercial neighborhood districts.

Austin airport traffic jumps in April
Austin Business Journal
Airport traffic is on the rise again at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, according to the latest numbers released by the airport. The airport saw a total of 863,629 passengers in April, up 4.5 percent compared to the same month last year. Year to date, the airport's passenger traffic is up 5.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Invest in your own website, not OTA commissions

Independent hotels are getting into the habit of not having their own Internet booking engines. It is becoming a common practice with most of them to post their rates on different OTAs. They choose to give more commissions to OTAs instead of investing on their own branded website. And many hotels that do have IBEs are not effectively using them as their branded websites are old, unappealing, static, and rarely optimized.
