Billionaire Musk chooses South Texas site for SpaceX launchpad

SpaceX has chosen a South Texas site to build its planned commercial rocket launch facility, Texas Gov. Rick Perry's office said. Texas is offering $2.3 million in incentives to SpaceX from the Enterprise fund, the governor's office said. The state is offering $13 million from the Spaceport Trust Fund to the Cameron County Spaceport Development Corp. The Spaceport Trust Fund is used to support the development of infrastructure necessary for establishing a spaceport.

This task is achieved through a favorable tax and regulatory climate, a fair and predictable judicial system, excellent education and training at all levels, infrastructure that can sustain a growing economy, and a desirable quality of life. Texas does quite well in some of these areas, but faces notable challenges in others, particularly over the long term.

Travel employment up in July
Successful Meetings
Travel industry employment achieved another record high last month, according to the U.S. Travel Association, which last week released an analysis of the U.S. Department of Labor's July jobs report. Overall, the Labor Department reported, unemployment in July was 6.2 percent as the U.S. economy added 209,000 new jobs — many of which were in the travel industry, according to U.S. Travel Senior Vice President of Research and Economics David Huether.

Airlines sue TSA over security fee
Travel Weekly
Domestic and international airlines went to court to challenge the way the Transportation Security Administration is calculating the revised security fee on airline tickets. In a petition to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Airlines for America and IATA said the TSA is overcharging passengers by not observing congressional intent that the fee be capped. Under the previous law, the fee was $2.50 per enplanement (or per segment), with a cap of $5 per one-way trip or $10 per round trip.
