Comptroller's weekly economic outlook
The Texas Economy
Job growth, sales tax collections and building permits all signal that the Texas economy continues to outpace the national economy. Over the past year, Texas added jobs in all of the 11 major industries, including professional and business services, trade, transportation and utilities, leisure and hospitality, education and health services, construction, mining and logging, government, financial activities, information, other services, and manufacturing.

Travel industry recovers nearly all jobs lost during recession

As of December 2013, the travel industry has recovered 99 percent of the jobs it lost during the Great Recession, putting it just 5,000 jobs shy of its pre-recession employment level, according to the U.S. Travel Association, which last week released an analysis of the U.S. Department of Labor's December jobs report. By contrast, the rest of the economy has recovered just 86 percent lost jobs.

American Airlines, US Airways begin code-sharing on each other's flights
The Dallas Morning News
American Airlines and US Airways, the two major carriers of the American Airlines Group, launched the first phase of codesharing Monday. The codesharing will allow travelers to book US Airways flights under American's name and flight number, and book American flights under US Airways' name and flight number.
