Travel industry praises reintroduction of JOLT Act

Earning wide praise from the travel community, Reps. Joe Heck, R-Nev., and Mike Quigley, D-Ill., have reintroduced the Jobs Originating through Launching Travel Act, a bipartisan effort to create jobs by implementing visa reforms that would increase international travel to the United States. Although it originally was introduced last year by Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., the JOLT Act failed to come for a vote in the last Congress. If passed, Heck and Quigley say the legislation could attract as many as 98 million more visitors to the United States, create 1 million American jobs and generate as much as $859 billion in revenue by 2020.

Survey: Bothersome US entry procedures stymie inbound international travel

According to newly released survey results, the U.S. customs and entry procedures for inbound international travelers is "embarrassingly" lengthy and inefficient. Such entry delays, according to a poll of 1,200 travelers from other countries, are deterrents for those considering a visit to the United States.
