Travel employment exports down slightly

The travel industry has experienced its first hiccup in a while, registering declines in both employment and exports for the first time in many months, according to the U.S. Travel Association, which recently reported the latest travel employment and export data from the U.S. Departments of Labor and Commerce.

Economy still strong despite jobs data
Even though the latest nonfarm payroll numbers disappointed investors, the U.S. economy remains strong, JPMorgan Funds' David Kelly said recently. "I don't think the U.S. economy is [too] fragile. First of all, we should not overreact to one miss on the employment report. This is an estimate of the seasonably-adjusted change in a magnitude of 140 million. To miss by over 100,000, that does happen from time to time," he told CNBC's "Squawk on the Street."

US business travel on the rise despite dwindling perks
While business travel spending and trips are both on the rise in the U.S., according to the latest forecast from the Global Business Travel Association, many of the perks road warriors have grown accustomed to are being left behind. Business travel spending has rebounded in recent years, but much of the increase is a result of inflation, with the rest being attributed to increasingly productive business travelers.

Mobile devices now generate twenty-five percent of all digital travel transactions in the US
According to the latest report from Q1 this year, mobile commerce (including tablets) is growing like weeds, everywhere. Mobile is now 29 percent of e-commerce transactions in the U.S. and 34 percent globally. By the end of 2015, mobile share is forecast to reach 33 percent in the U.S. and 40 percent globally. Travel is one of the early adopter sectors in mobile e-commerce, and it is the third largest sector in U.S., according to Criteo data.

Considered one of the fastest-growing social media platforms, Instagram has now surpassed the 288 million users of Twitter and has gained the attention of marketers as a serious competitor to help grow their business through visual marketing. With this increased attention, Instagram recently unveiled two new products — carousel ads and Layout to provide advertisers with more options.
