Texas economy leveling out, economic data indicates

There are signs that Texas' economy is perhaps hitting a plateau. Comerica Bank says its Texas Economic Activity Index fell slightly in May, declining 0.1 percentage points to 103.6. However, that's still more than a full percentage point better than the 2012 average index of 102.

Travel and tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors of the US economy

The travel and tourism sector grew at an annualized rate of 6.8 percent in the first three months of 2013. In the same period, the U.S. economy grew at an annualized pace of 2.4 percent, according to a report from the Bureau Of Economic Analysis. Not only is the U.S. travel and tourism industry growing more than three times as fast as the rest of the economy, it's doing so despite a slowing in growth in prices.
