Consumer confidence, housing data signal economy's resilience
U.S. consumer confidence hit a seven-month high in August and new single-family home sales rebounded in July, suggesting underlying strength in the economy that could still allow the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates this year. Other data showed moderate gains in house prices in June, which should support consumer spending and keep home purchasing affordable, especially for first-time buyers.

Boost in Labor Day travel expected to make summer busiest ever for airlines
Airlines project 14.2 million passengers will fly over the Labor Day holiday, a 3 percent increase from last year that could break records for summer travel. An expected 2 million daily passengers from Wednesday Sept. 2 through Tuesday Sept. 8 will mark an increase of about 59,000 passengers per day from the comparable holiday period last year, according to the industry group Airlines for America.

Apple has major changes in store for the Apple Watch, and they're going to solve its biggest problems

Reviewers have had two common criticisms of Apple Watch since it launched in April: Apps are slow and don't always perform very well, and it's a bit expensive for a watch that still requires you to keep your phone nearby. In June, Apple announced that it's addressing those two points among other things with its watchOS 2 software update for the Apple Watch, which is launching in September.

Think with Google debuts a travel dashboard to help US marketers
Recently Google's marketing research arm, Think with Google, unveiled its Travel Dashboard — a free online tool that highlights recent and year-over-year trends based on Google data across the car rental, air, and hotel verticals in the United States. The data has been designed to help marketers in planning their campaigns. It will be updated quarterly.
