PONY CLUB'S INSIDE TURNS

The USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge
The USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge, presented by Sweet Briar College, is inviting a team to the 2013 HQC Finals to represent the United States Pony Club! The deadline to participate in the HQC is September 1 so register now! The HQC is an educational program open to all USHJA members 20 and younger (per USEF competition rules). Participants take a series of horsemanship and riding theory quizzes, and those with high scores may be eligible to participate in the HQC Finals in Findlay, Ohio, this November. The 2013 HQC Finals is supported in part by a generous grant from the United States Equestrian Federation.

HQC participants who are also USPC members may declare participation with either their respective zone team or the Pony Club Team once they become eligible for HQC Finals. The finals will have 12 zone teams comprised of three finalists, one Pony Club team comprised of three finalists, and an additional 10 individual finalists who are not already on a team.

All HQC participants must complete both the Level One and Two Quizzes by September 1. Visit the HQC webpage to learn more and register for the new season or contact Carrie Vaught at 859- 225-6703.

USPC Concussion Policy
At the Annual Meeting in January, USPC adopted a Concussion Policy which includes the Return to Play guidelines for all USPC Members who have been pulled from play due to a suspected concussion. This short video titled "Hey Doc, When can I Return to Play" from the CDC gives an excellent explanation of the step-by-step procedure for an athlete to follow post-concussion. If you or someone you know someone has sustained a concussion from playing in school sports or from a fall during a mounted activity, this video will be of great benefit to you and your family and friends.
