PONY CLUB'S INSIDE TURNS

It's time to get to work on your Land Conservation Projects
USPC
Submissions for the Brookfield Conservation Award are due Nov. 1. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to help your Club, Center or Region.

The Brookfield Conservation Award rewards efforts for the promotion of land conservation by individuals, Clubs, Centers or Regions through education. Educational efforts may include working with your local hunt or other organizations or schools to write articles, present workshops, research papers, civic activities and more. Group projects can include coordinating with local conservation groups to do trail clearing, park cleaning, local Earth Day activities, tree planting, cleaning and repairing local equestrian trails and much more.

Applicants may be a Club, Center, Region, or individual, and up to two $500 awards may be given yearly. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1. Click here for full award guidelines and criteria.

The Brookfield Conservation Award is named in honor of the historic Brookfield Farm near Lexington, Kentucky. The original parcels of Brookfield were received from the British monarchy in the late 1700s. In 2000 Brookfield was placed in the Bluegrass Conservancy by its owners, Betsy and Jack van Nagell.

A perpetual trophy, with yearly engravings denoting the winning Pony Club, will be on display at the USPC National Office. A keepsake trophy will be awarded to the club. The deadline* for entries is Nov. 1. Entries will be reviewed and the winner selected by Dec. 1. The winning entry will be published in the winter issue USPC News, with a photo of club members if provided. More details will be available on the USPC website, so stay tuned!

Now accepting applications for the 2015 International Games Team!
USPC
In 2015, the U.S. will host the annual International Games Competition, which rotates between the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and Australia. The tour will be held in the Virginia area, July 12-26, with the final competition taking place Saturday night on July 25, at the Virginia Horse Center, during the USPC Championships.

This year the Regional Supervisor (RS) may nominate as many applications as he/she has for consideration. If a region has more than one applicant, the RS may rank order his/her applicants when submitting the regional applications. This ordering shall be based on any criteria the RS wishes to apply, and shall be at the sole discretion of the RS. The nominated candidates shall not be made aware of their rank, unless the RS wishes to divulge that information.

The Selection Committee will keep all information received strictly confidential. The RS will forward their nominations to Activities@ponyclub.org prior to the applicant submitting their application. The RS, DC/CA and other recommendation forms will be available online also.

The remainder of the application process is to be produced by the candidates. This year the application will be an online application and the riding video can be done on YouTube, so that everything is electronic. The online application may also be downloaded and mailed to the National Office. Riding videos shall show the skills as detailed in the current USPC Games Handbook and Rules for Games Competition. The same information is also available on the USPC website.

Applications are being accepted now. Please encourage any Pony Club members who wish to be on the team to work on their applications so that they may be received by the Selection Committee in a timely fashion. The deadline for receipt of applications is Oct. 15, with Nov. 1, being the target to announce team selection. Applications received after Oct. 15, may not be accepted.

Send the written applications and YouTube links to: Activities@ponyclub.org
