Wild horses were challenging for early humans to tame, more so than the other animals inhabiting Europe and Asia. Dogs, cattle, sheep, and goats were all put to practical use much earlier. Once horsemanship gained a foot-hold however, it spread rapidly and became a force within successful communities; equal to the development of language and the invention of the wheel.

Important Information For Club/Center and Regional Leaders Concerning the 2014 National USPC Youth Congress

WHAT IS THE NATIONAL USPC YOUTH CONGRESS (NYC)? The NYC is USPC's way of recognizing outstanding H-B/C+ and up Pony Club members and providing them with an extraordinary opportunity for growth and development through a national conference of approximately 40 youth members and up to five outstanding Pony Club alumni. The NYC Program takes place each year the two days prior to the USPC Annual Meeting. The Program consists of group discussions, presentations and interaction with Pony Club Alumni, networking, etc. for youth members and alumni. The NYC culminates in the Honors Banquet at which the outstanding alumni are inducted into the USPC Academy of Achievement.

USPC Annual Meeting 2014

The Oregon Region invites you to return to the west for a fun filled weekend of leadership training, educational workshops and socializing!

A special offering for the 2014 Annual Meeting! Saturday offsite workshop tracks including the HB and Up and Horsemasters will be held at Fall Brooks Farm and will include hands on activities and live demonstrations. Busing and lunch will be provided to attendees of the offsite workshop tracks. There is no cost but pre-registration is required since there is limited space. Registration for the offsite tracks will close on Dec. 22, and please designate your intent to attend.

 Registration for the 2014 United States Pony Clubs Annual Meeting is now open. Please visit the Online Registration to register. The early registration prices of $125 for adults and $95 for youths are available until Nov. 15. Regular registration prices of $140 for adults and $110 for youths are available until Jan. 3. After Jan. 3 registrations will only be accepted onsite at the prices of $155 for adults and $125 for youths. There will be a limited number of tote bags and proceedings book available for onsite registrants and there will be no banquet tickets available for purchase onsite.

Pony Club Partners With Triple Crown for New Scholarship

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. has partnered with Triple Crown Nutrition (TCN) to create the TCN Scholarship. This scholarship will reward Pony Club members for excellence in academic pursuits and outstanding achievements in Pony Club. It will be awarded annually, and the recipient will also receive their choice of five free bags of Triple Crown Feed.

To qualify for this award, active Pony Club members need to be currently enrolled (or been accepted to) an institution of higher education, have achieved a Pony Club Certification higher than a C-2, and have at least a 3.0 average in his/her academics. They must also complete a 500 word essay on “The nutritional management of a particular Pony Club mount,” along with other required essays.

“Triple Crown Nutrition has been a national sponsor of the United States Pony Club for years,” said Eric Haydt, Triple Crown senior vice-president business development. “Providing a scholarship gives us another avenue to help the future influencers in our equine industry. Triple Crown has a history of supporting the equine industry and we intend to make a larger contribution going forward.”

Alexandra Beckstett writes, "In 2012 Editor-in-Chief Stephanie Church started an editorial tradition: Once a year our four-strong team of dressage/eventing/hunter/jumper riders takes a horsey field trip to try out a new discipline. Last winter it was polo, which was a blast even if my mallet-wielding arm was sore for days after. This month we all tried our hands (and seats) at cutting cows.
