Virginia democrat: Gun owners like 'little kids,' guns need to be titled, registered
The Examiner
Recently, Mike Dickinson, a Virginia democrat running to replace Eric Cantor, R-Va., in the House of Representatives, compared gun owners to children in a message on Twitter. Earlier in the day, he said guns should be "titled" and registered just like cars. "Gun owners are like little kids right now. They have all the rights but none of the responsibility. With rights comes responsibility," he tweeted.

Justices deny review of gun-rights appeals
CNN
The Supreme Court for now is staying out of the hot-button issue of concealed weapons laws. The Justices declined to review two cases brought by the National Rifle Association that deal with whether those age 18-20 can buy and then carry handguns in public for self-defense. The justices gave no reason for denying those cases and a third gun-control appeal on out-of-state weapon transfers.

Heros like you can help heros like these
VSSA
Sixteen years ago, VSSA started what has become the longest running clay target charity event in the country, VSSA's Crush'n Clays. Since that first event, VSSA has raised over $281,000 to help support the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the largest pediatric research facility in America established solely for the study of childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases including pediatric AIDS and sickle cell anemia. This year's event is scheduled for June 14 and will again be held at the Arlington Fairfax IWLA. You can register to shoot in this event, become a sponsor of the event, or if you can't attend this year, make a donation by clicking here.

Learning from biathletes
American Hunter
Beyond marveling at their incredible toughness and athleticism, I have been intrigued by gun-handling skills demonstrated by many of the Olympic biathletes in Sochi. The way they transition their rifles from carry mode to shooting position is fluid and fast.

Home defense shotgun: Myths and reality
The Daily Caller
A shotgun is one of the most versatile but hard-to-master firearms available. They are usually (with exception of NFA items) bulky, heavy, slow to reload and hold a laughable amount of ammo. In multi-gun competitions, which are held around the country, any experienced shooter will tell you this. Loading the shotgun is what makes or breaks you. The shotgun is not a magic talisman that will scare away an intruder, nor will the spread of the projectiles insure you can't miss.

The buck who carried his rival's head
OutdoorHub
While it may look like a grisly trophy, the story behind the picture of the antler-locked bucks is one of survival and endurance. Luke Laha, a wildlife management instructor in Kansas, was asked about how he and his students rescued an antler-locked deer that had been carrying around the head of his rival. So how did this deer come to be wearing such bizarre headgear? Laha said that there was once a body attached to that head, before the coyotes came.

Record US gun production during Obama term as buyers stock up
Bloomberg News
U.S. gun makers led by Sturm Ruger & Co. and Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. churned out a record number of firearms in 2012, government data show, continuing a trend of robust production during Democratic presidencies. More than 8.57 million guns were produced in 2012, up 31 percent from 6.54 million in 2011, according to data released this week by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which has been tracking the statistics since 1986.

The basics of resizing rifle and pistol cartridge cases
OutdoorHub
Every time you pull the trigger, lots of violent things happen inside the chamber of your gun. All of this happens in a split second and is the reason that, when reloading your own ammunition, you need to resize the brass cartridge case. While resizing the cartridge case rarely compresses a case to its original size, it will crush it back within cartridge dimension standards, allowing it to chamber in any gun of the proper caliber.

MSNBC, HBO scold NRA, NSSF for giving 'young kids access to guns'
Breitbart
On Feb. 24, MSNBC's Chris Hayes was joined by HBO's Jon Frankel to report that the National Rifle Association and the National Shooting Sports Foundation fight to allow "young kids to access guns." To make this case, Hayes opened the segment by focusing on the NRA's failed challenge of a Texas law prohibiting "the majority of 18-20-year-olds from carrying a handgun in public" with a concealed carry license. Hayes said this court challenge on behalf of "teenagers" shows the NRA "apparently believes everyone should be allowed to carry handguns."

If felons deserve the vote, why don't they deserve guns?
Bloomberg View
Suddenly the left doesn't think Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is so crazy after all. A week after U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder made a strong case for restoring voting rights to felons, the Kentucky Senate joined the Kentucky House in approving a constitutional amendment restoring rights to many felons, and Paul prefers the broader version passed by the Democratic-controlled House.
